It sounds like you have a decent piece of property. Everything that I have heard or read about food plots, is that you are putting them in to change there natural movements of the deer on the property.

With very little cover from trees, you need to think more about ingress and egress. Te ability to sneak in AND out without being detected is going to be your biggest challenge.

Property improvements are going to take a long time. A lot of vacant land owner will plant some evergreens, but they take 10 years to grow from seedling to 6′.

Without knowing the lay of the land it is hard to make any suggestions. Can you get an arial photo from http://www.bing.com/maps/ or http://maps.google.com/ and I will post it for you (we will strip off any identity information to keep your location private).

Shoot straight…
